Alex Lodise, Florida State

First, I think Alex Lodise at FSU should be a frontrunner for this award. The numbers are hard to argue with this year. Lodise is a solid middle infield defender, but he brings power and production from the right side of the plate. The shortstop can hit to all fields and makes a serious case for himself with over 15 homers while hitting around .430.

Liam Doyle, Tennessee

Liam Doyle at Tennessee has one of the most untouchable fastballs in the country, and it shows with his nation-leading 115 strikeouts on the season. The fastball is elite with velocity and incredible spin, and he’s sitting around a 2.40 ERA with under a .150 opposing batting average to make him one of the top contenders to watch down the stretch for National Player of the Year.

Mason Neville, Oregon

Mason Neville at Oregon has had a breakout season — and now the nation’s leading home run hitter should be in conversation for National Player of the Year. The junior has over 20 bombs this season while hitting around .330 with a 1.300 OPS. He can drive the ball from gap to gap from the left side of the plate, is a powerful pull hitter and a strong outfielder defensively.

Wehiwa Aloy, Arkansas

Wehiwa Aloy at Arkansas is certainly in the conversation for National Player of the Year. He turns in big week after big week and is another elite shortstop this season. He is a strong pull hitter with incredible numbers, hitting just over .375 with 17 homers for the Razorbacks this season.

Kyson Witherspoon, Oklahoma

And finally, my fifth player to watch in contention for NPOY. I wanted to throw in another pitcher, and it’s Oklahoma’s Kyson Witherspoon. He has five pitches in his arsenal with great command. His fastball sits in the upper 90s, and his ERA is around 2.12 with 100 strikeouts.
