Nepal protest victims declared ‘martyrs’
Nepal’s interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki took charge and made sure that one of her first decisions was to grant relief to the student protesters who installed her in the high office. Karki declared those who lost lives in the Gen Z protests as “martyrs”. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is widening its probe into alleged money laundering through an illegal betting app. Former TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty and actor Urvashi Rautela are the latest to receive summons from the ED. The officials will probe their connection to the app, believed to be through certain endorsements. This comes close on the heels of former Indian cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina facing ED questioning. Read more

Hike to shut down fully after online money gaming ban
The ban on real-money games lead to layoffs at some companies. Now, it has claimed an entire business. Hike, which was previously seen as India’s answer to WhatsApp when it was a chat app, had pivoted to offering real money games. With a ban in place, CEO Kavin Mittal has decided to shut the firm. He said Hike could still raise capital but continuing operations “was not worth it”. Read more

Ukraine hits Russian refinery
Ukraine has struck Russian oil refinery, one of the top three in the country by production, amid a fuel shortage. Explosions were heard and a fire was reported in an acknowledgment of the attack from both Moscow and Kyiv. On its part, Russia said that “no one was injured” and Moscow had managed to bring down at least 80 Ukrainian drones overnight. Read more
